I studied Aerospace Engineering at IIT Madras and graduated in 2021. I haven't worked on an aircraft since. The degree did leave me with a habit I still use every week. You model a system you can't fully see, and you keep track of which terms you threw away to make the maths work. Machine learning asks for the same thing.
I spent two and a half years in advanced analytics at IQVIA. I built RAG systems and NLP over public health feedback, worked on price elasticity and demand forecasting, and set up the CI/CD the pipelines ran on. At Genpact I sat inside the banking and capital markets analytics team, where generative AI had an owner, an audit trail and someone on call for it. After that I was the founding engineer at Indivia AI and owned the whole stack. Now I'm at ITO Health. It's healthcare, so getting it wrong costs more.
The part I care about is everything around the model. Getting the data in, training, shipping the service, then cutting the system down until one person can hold it in their head. When an applied AI project fails, the model is rarely why.
Outside work there's cricket. I also keep stripping my own tools down and arguing with myself about how little software I actually need. Some of that ends up on the blog.
